Who can volunteer?
The typical volunteer is from high school age on up; anyone who has the means and time to travel for 10 days or more at a time. We tend to select people who have a good income and/or have financial backing to afford the trip, or people working part time or retired. Many of these people are obviously dental related, but we utilize any and every skill and expertise. It takes a team to put together the equipment and organization and education in the field. We've used teachers, social workers, mechanics, students doing school projects or research.
Our aim is to expose as many people as possible to the many cultures and the truth of life in the rest of the world. We want to provide them with a personal experience of these lifestyles and people so that they can come home and teach others. The average volunteer for a trip should be a hardy well-conditioned traveler with no debilitating health concerns that may be exacerbated in a remote, rugged location.
Volunteers should be willing to work hard and enjoy people of all ages and ethnicities. They need to adopt our underlying guiding philosophy of Namaste...
I honor and salute the greatness and the Divinity in you, for each person. Not to feel sorry for people who they may view as disadvantaged, but to feel reverence, honor and respect for all whom they encounter.
Feeling fortunate that they have the opportunity to be with such an amazing person from a different land and to be able to offer them something unconditionally just because we care about them.
Providedental health care, ongoing disease prevention education and supplies to underserved populations.
Train local people to take responsibility for preventive education and care.
Establish self-sustaining, community enterprises that mutually benefit health and well-being.
Share the virtues and values of other cultures with each other in order to enrich all of our lives.
Develop bridges of love and understanding between us and all peoples so that we become a planet of friendly neighbors instead of fearful strangers.

What to Expect
Because we partner with in-country organizations we are able to offer these trips at substantial discounts for accommodations, food and overland travel.
We build into each trip up-close experiences with spectacular scenery, majestic wildlife encounters and safaris and adventures using experienced and knowledgeable guides.
We stay in a range from 5 star hotels to grass huts with no plumbing or electricity so travelers need to be able to feel comfortable in a range of environmental conditions and be able to go with the flow during the inevitable mechanical breakdown or delay that changes the schedule.
In addition, the relationships with amazing indigenous people and the knowledge gained about their lifestyles is totally fulfilling. You will come home knowing that you have forever friends around the world that will never forget you.
It is a wonderful and powerful way to be a representative of what is great about Americans and to feel the fulfillment that comes from getting back more than you give.
